Why AHR chose to work with me

“Emma really quickly became part of the team and has brought a different perspective. She has developed some great, new ideas and it’s been a pleasure working with her to implement these in the business. It’s been really valuable having a fresh viewpoint. Her sector experience gave her a head start in getting to know our business and she quickly took the lead in driving projects forward.”

A focus on content

AHR was seeking an extra pair of hands that could be ring fenced to help deliver their content strategy. This included the project management of delivery, copywriting and tackling some key marketing objectives for the business.

Content the AHR marketing team were seeking to produce included:

  • A social impact report

  • The launch of a new podcast series

  • Thought leadership blog content

  • a decarbonisation roundtable event series.

Juggling priorities: An agile approach to delivering impact

The sheer quantity and diverse nature of the projects demanded a balanced approach. Juggling the social value report, decarbonisation events, and podcasts with concurrent thought leadership blogging required a blend of agile planning and a dynamic approach to project management.

 Regular contact

A weekly session in the office proved invaluable for maintaining close collaboration with the marketing team. This, coupled with working directly with architects and surveyors, facilitated seamless information flow and the smooth delivery of work. Weekly progress reports kept stakeholders informed of progress.

Prioritising projects

The social value report demanded a time-sensitive approach. By reviewing existing content, crafting the report structure, and copywriting the final document, I ensured its relevance and impact upon release. I also played a central role in the decarbonisation roundtable event series, from venue sourcing and content planning to invitations and post-event follow-up and content.

New content development

Versatility was key for the podcast project. From managing logistics like assessing the merits of a physical studio versus virtual studio and technology sourcing to planning content, managing stakeholders, and securing guests, I laid the groundwork for its successful launch. By providing comprehensive briefings and managing initial recordings, I empowered the marketing team to take the reins moving forward.

Flexible and efficient

Capitalising on lulls in other projects, I utilised my expertise to generate thought leadership blogs on relevant topics like decarbonisation, urban regeneration, and healthcare estate management. This not only kept website content fresh but also contributed to SEO efforts.

Navigating this multifaceted workload demanded a flexible and efficient approach. By adopting a combination of dedicated focus, collaborative engagement, and strategic timing, I ensured each marketing project received the necessary attention while maximising overall impact.

Lead generation events

The decarbonisation roundtable series got underway in Manchester and I also supported the second in the series which took place in Liverpool. Working with AHR’s Head of Sustainability, I scoped out the content of the events, managed attendees and follow-up as well as sourcing venues.

Post event, I undertook the copywriting of two blogs on the key findings from each of these events. The marketing team has since taken the series forward in 2024 with additional dates across the country including Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow. The event series has been an important tool for lead generation for the business.

Podcast launch

The podcast series is a brand new activity for AHR, it’s been an opportunity to reach their audience in a new way whilst showcasing the talented individuals that work for the practice. The podcast launched in 2024 and covers a diverse range of topics including nature recovery, the evolution of school design, passivhaus, decarbonising the NHS estate and office and workplace trends. Following the launch of the first episodes of the series, the marketing team plan to continue momentum and regularly publish new episodes.

I wrote a number of blogs on subjects including; Creating healthy neighbourhoods with a focus on people and place , Why we need to retrofit to achieve net zero, towns and city centre regeneration, repurposing the NHS estate and decarbonising the NHS estate. These thought leadership pieces serve the dual purposes of positioning AHR as thought leaders and whilst supporting their SEO strategy.

The Social Impact Report 2022 was published in June 2023 and was well received across the business and on social media. It showcases how AHR delivers on their ESG commitments and embeds their ethos within the culture of the practice.

“Emma’s flexibility, communication and organisation skills gave a lot of comfort, she became a real extension of the team. She was also able to support some team members and share her knowledge.”
